Prokaryotic Cell Reproduction
This is a common type of reproduction in prokaryotic cells of bacteria and blue-green bacteria in which the division process leads to similar results to mitosis. A ring of new wall material forms on the inner surface of the cell, usually at a point midway along its length. This ring grows inward and cuts through both the cytoplasm and the nucleoid area. Of course, the genetic material is duplicated before fission begins and each new cell receives a complete set of genetic information.
