Virtual
Manufacturing Centre (VMC)
was established in 2002 by the support of Canadian Foundation
for Innovation (CFI), Manitoba Provincial Government, and Faculty
of Engineering at University of Manitoba. It has the capability
to:
explore
new approaches to support the VR-based product design and
manufacturing, such as to investigate the standardization
and simplification of VR systems, develop intelligent VR interface
and strategy for sharing of VR facilities;
conduct
VR-based industrial applications, such as virtual design, virtual
prototyping, and virtual assembly, to improve the quality of
products, shorten time to market, and reduce expense in the
production process;
provide
a totally new training program in product design and manufacturing;
and
develop
VR research collaborations and partnerships.
