The files described below are necessary to run dui.
The application-default resource file allows customization of much of DNA/GUI. The "app-defaults" file for DNA/GUI is called dui.ad. Instructions for changing various attributes of DNA/GUI are listed in Appendix A.1. DNA/GUI accesses the environment variable XAPPLRESDIR to find the application-default resource file. If this environment variable is already set for your system (the directory /usr/lib/X11/app-defaults is typically used), move the DNA/GUI app-defaults file to this directory. Otherwise the XAPPLRESDIR environment variable needs to be set. If, for example, the DNA/GUI app-defaults file is stored in the directory /usr/local/applications/appdef type:
setenv XAPPLRESDIR /usr/local/applications/appdef/
to set the app-defaults directory.
Alternatively, there is a command-line option for executing xrdb, which will also load the X resources. See Section 2.12 for the command line options.
On-line "Help" files are accessed through Help menus.
These files are recipes for different color maps which may be changed by the user.
These files specify lane order and lane labels for specific gels or families of gels.
These files list fragment sizes and mobilities for different standards. The information in these files are used for sizing purposes and to align images with one another for purposes of comparison.
These files specify a gel's geometry if a gel's lanes have varying lane width and/or interlane spacing. Not needed if both the intralane width is constant and the interlane spacing is constant.
