MCAL is a chemical analysis facility offering a wide range of instrumental methods for the analysis of biological, environmental and industrial samples.

The laboratory has two stand alone spectrophotometers that can be used to quantify the concentration of compounds.  The Cary 50 is a general purpose ultra-violet and visible spectrum spectrophotometer. 

The laboratory also has a fluorometer which can measure the composition of fluorescing compounds
