"Rapid Prototyping of Control Systems from an Electromagnetic Transient Simulator Program"

Description of Project

A method was developed to automatically convert the controls modeled in an EMT simulation into C code for a microcontroller. The code generator was developed to generate controls for PSCAD/EMTDC. The viability of this approach was demonstrated by the prototyping the controls for a step-down converter. The prototype built in hardware was a step-down dc-dc converter, with the generated C code controls being implementing on a PIC microcontroller.
