About Gene...

In addition to publishing two books, one on French auteur-director François Truffaut and the other on Charlie Thorson (designer of over 100 classic animation characters in the 1930s and 1940s for Disney, MGM, Warner Bros., Fleischer Studios, and Terrytoons -- most notably Little Hiawatha, Elmer Elephant, and Bugs Bunny), he has edited two collections of essays on Canadian film: Flashback (1987) and a new anthology Canada's Best Features  (2002).  Past President of the Film Studies Association of Canada and past-Provost of University College, he is now at work on a feature film-script and two book projects.
