Supervisory Philosophy

  • My goal is to train students for academic and research careers
  • I enjoy working closely with a small number of graduate students
  • An apprenticeship model guides my supervision of Master's students
  • Doctoral students are given considerable latitude to pursue their own interests

I assume that students will be co-authors of papers about shared projects

Graduate Research Position available

For an entering student, beginning September, 2005

  • Involvement in all aspects of the Milestones Study, a multi-year longitudinal study of developmental milestones in infancy and early childhood
    • Visits to homes of participating infants
    • Involvement in new measure development and testing
    • Data analysis experience with Access, Excel, SAS
    • Manuscript preparation and publication-process experience

Graduate Researcher Qualifications

  • BA or BSc (Honours degree or its equivalent)
  • Background in Psychology, Human Development, or closely related discipline
  • GRE General and Subject Tests

Funding for position depends on grant approval (March 2005 decision)

Financial Support

Past and current students have been supported by fellowships and by teaching and research assistantships

  • Grant proposals under review would fund an incoming student
    • Funding decisions will be known by March, 2005
    • C$12,000 per year for research assistantship
    • Additional teaching assistantship
