McKenna Lab member helps launch White Otter Biotech

Congrats to McKenna lab member Daniel Gussakovsky and department colleague Jörg Stetefeld on launching White Otter Biotech. Danny secured Micas Accelerate funding to launch aspects of the company while a PhD student in my research group related to fish biodiversity monitoring using environmental DNA and RNA.

CIHR Funding for Non-coding RNA research

We are thrilled to have received a 5-year CIHR Project Grant (2020-2025) from the Molecular & Cellular Biology of Cancer panel to continue our studies on the non-coding RNA BC200 and its role in cancer cell survival.

University of Manitoba Funds new FPLC

The group was awarded a University of Manitoba Small Equipment Research Fund Grant to purchase a new FPLC system for RNA purification!

Collaborative work with Portet Group Funded

We are thrilled to have received, in conjunction with our collaborators from the Portet Group in Mathematics at the University of Manitoba, a 1 year Collaborative Grant from the Faculty of Science to investigate mathematical modelling of the interaction between viral RNA and the OAS family of innate immunity enzymes.
