| Congratulations to our Department of Chemistry scholarship receipients:
- Guy received the Peter Letkeman Scholarship, the Hugh J. Anderson Scholarship in Chemistry and the Instrumental Analysis Award.
- Samuel received the Hugh J. Anderson Graduate Student Award, the Ernst and Ingrid Bock Graduate Award, the Ted Peter Schaefer Graduate Award and the Chemistry Centennial Scholarship.
- Akef received the Hugh J. Anderson Graduate Student Award, the R. H. Betts Graduate Award in Chemistry, the Ernst and Ingrid Bock Graduate Award and the Walter and Elizabeth Rodewald Scholarship.

| A little milestone: Qing-Jiang's latest Pacman paper that has just been accepted is the 50th paper from this group (number 55 if refereed book chapters are counted also.) Thank you to all who contributed along the way − current and former students, postdocs and collaborators, former supervisors, friends and family.

| Congratulations to Tom Ziegler who will be awarded the CIC medal of the Chemical Institute of Canada. Tom will present the award lecture at the CSC conference in Toronto.

| Welcome to our newest undergraduate researchers, Craig Peeples and Guy Chapellaz who joined the group effective May 3. Craig is working with Grigory on peroxo actinide complexes, and Guy is working with Abu on dye-iodine (dye-iodide) interactions within the general DSSC field.

| It seems that persistence and perserverance pays, after all − I am happy to report that Samuel has managed to clear all visa and other hurdles to be able go to Los Alamos National Laboratory for the summer term (May through August). Samuel has been awarded a Seaborg Institute Research Fellowship. When not exploring the mountains and deserts of New Mexico, he will be working with Dr. Enrique Batista. Congratulations, and enjoy the Southwest, Samuel!

| Congratulations to Guy on winning an NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award for the summer term 2010! Guy will be working with Abu on the dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) projects.
