MCAL has a
wide range of instrumentation that can be
setup in various configurations.
The
laboratory has two mass spectrometers
(MS). A quatrapole
mass spectrometer which measures the ions produced from fragmentation of compounds seperated
by a gas chromatograph. This MS
instrument also has a probe that can be
utilized to measure
solid volatile samples.
The second MS is a LC-MS which can
seperate water/methanol soluble compounds and
utilizes an ion-trap and electrospray
injection. Coumpounds can be seperated
by high precision liquid chromatography (HPLC)
before injection into the MS.
