MCAL is a chemical
analysis facility capable of determining
analytes in various matrices. A variety of
instruments are available for the separation,
identification and quantification of these
analytes. The equipment in the MCAL facility
includes GC, GC-MS, LC, LC-MS, ICP-OES, spectrophotometers
and electrophoresis equipment. The laboratory
also has access to NMR, FT-IR, a clean
laboratory for Hg analysis, and other routine
analytical equipment.
Samples can be analysed by
the laboratory as individual samples,
researchers can use the facility to analyse
their own samples to support their research or
joint projects can be run within the
facility. Labor for the projects can be supplied
both by MCAL and by the researcher. Training on
the theory and use of equipment can be supplied
by MCAL staff.
Fees for use of the
equipment are charged on a hourly basis or a
sample basis depending on the nature of the
project at both industrial and academic rates.
Fees are charged to keep the laboratory
state-of-art with modern equipment and supplies.
