Check List (Flora) Projects

• I developed a Herbarium tracking program for the Macintosh using in HyperCard in my spare time while working at the University of Manitoba Field Station (Delta Marsh). The program contained an online list of all of the species in Manitoba, spelling checker, geographic locator, and an online gazetter. This program is no longer supported, maintained or updated.

  A flora of Manitoba was computerized for use with the herbarium program. This list of plants was used as the base for the spelling checker and online species list. It was developed primarily from Scoggan, H.J., Flora of Manitoba, National Museum of Canada Bulletin No. 140, 1957.

• Since 1998 I have been developing check lists of plant species I have seen for various areas around southern Manitoba. The first one that is avialable is for the Forks.

  The city of Winnipeg Naturalist Service Branch has quite a variety of information on plants and animals found in natural areas around Winnipeg. • I was a founding member of the Manitoba Association of Plant Biologists.
